We’ve all experienced that feeling of emptiness you get when you come to the end of your favourite boxset after devoting weeks or even months of your life to it. Well, the guys at TheSharpe.com are here to help fill that void. Every month we’ll be recommending a couple of genre specific shows to help keep you entertained until you find your next ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘The Sopranos’ or ‘Game of Thrones’. Here are our suggestions for November:

RICK AND MORTY

What do you get when you take some Futurama, throw in a little bit of South Park and add a pinch of Back to the Future? Well, you get Rick and Morty; a wacky adult cartoon that follows Rick, a super intelligent scientist and his not so intelligent grandson, Morty, on their hilariously entertaining adventures across the galaxy! A personal favourite of ours is Episode 5, Season 2 entitled “Get Schwifty” where Rick and Morty must aid Earth after a giant head disrupts the planet, demanding to hear a completely original hit song.

Episode Duration: approximately 22 minutes.

Number of Seasons: 2 seasons; 10 episodes per season.

IMDB Score: 9.2/10.0

Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer Rating: 100%.

COMMUNITY

community-tv-show-i11

Brought to you by Dan Harmon, the creator of Rick and Morty, Community tells the story of a suspended lawyer, played by Joel McHale, who’s forced to enrol in a community college with an eclectic staff and student body. Again, Dan Harmon and his team of writers knock it out of the park with Community, as they produce quality episode after quality episode. It also boasts an awesome cast with the likes of Ken Jeong (The Hangover), Donald Glover (HBO’s Atlanta), Jonathan Banks (Mike from Breaking Bad) and the always funny Chevy Chase.

Episode Duration: approximately 22 minutes.

Number of Seasons: 5 seasons; 13-25 episodes per season.

IMDB Score: 8.5/10.0

Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer Rating: 86%.

ARCHER

With Archer, the brainchild of Adam Reed (from Adult Swim fame), covert black ops and espionage take a back seat to zany personalities and even zanier relationships between secret agents, evil scientists and drones. The wit is sharp and gags never ending with this adult cartoon that can only be described as a cross between 007 and Family Guy. We at TheSharpe.com are still in kinks thinking about some of Archer’s ‘One-liners’ and if you’re into either of the above-mentioned shows, you are in for a treat.

Episode Duration: approximately 22 minutes.

Number of Seasons: 7 seasons; 10 episodes per season.

IMDB Score: 8.8/10.0

Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer Rating: 97%.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT

It’s hard to believe Arrested Development is 13 years old, but what a timeless cult classic it is. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, Arrested Development follows the exploits of Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) and his dysfunctional family after Michael’s father is imprisoned. If you like The Office, US Office or any other ‘Mockumentary’ style shows, you’re really going to enjoy this one.

Episode Duration: approximately 22 minutes.

Number of Seasons: 4 seasons; 15-22 episodes per season.

IMDB Score: 9.0/10.0

BROOKLYN NINE NINE

Brooklyn Nine Nine focuses on Jake Peralta (played by Andy Samberg of SNL and The Lonely Island fame), an immature but talented NYPD detective and his colleagues who all work at Brooklyn’s 99th Precinct. If you’re a fan of Andy Samberg’s work then you won’t be disappointed with this one. Also, I’m not one to miss an opportunity to big up ‘The Lonely Island’. Check out one of our favourites below:

Episode Duration: approximately 21 minutes.

Number of Seasons: 2 seasons; 22-23 episodes per season.

IMDB Score: 8.3/10.0

Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer Rating: 94%.
