A new year brings new talent and 2017 is no exception. Every year, new comedians make their mark in the world of comedy and some go on to become global superstars. If you are longing for new sources of laughter, look no further. Here are four of the lesser-known comedians that you should definitely be watching out for this year.

Trevor Noah

The South-African born comedian hosts a late night talk show, ‘The Daily Show’ on Comedy Central. He first moved to the US in 2011 as a stand-up comedian and has appeared on ‘The Tonight Show’ and ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’. It wasn’t until 2015 that he began to be a host of The Daily Show and became better known across America. 2017 is definitely the year to watch out for this comedian as Noah’s jokes are centralised around American politics, in particular Donald Trump.

A known Liberalist, the 32 year-old hilariously shames Trump and his republican colleagues. A highly successful comedian, he is set to become even bigger as his Netflix show called “Trevor Noah: Afraid of the Dark” premieres on February 21st. For now, you should certainly watch his comical clips from The Daily Show on YouTube.

Traci Stumpf

If you haven’t heard of Traci Stumpf, you must check her out now. The Californian stand-up comedian is known on Yahoo! TV’s ‘In No Time’, she is also a very well known comedic host. You can see her on Clevver TV’s channel on YouTube where she appears in their videos frequently as a host. Stumpf has interviewed at various red carpet events and is guaranteed to make you laugh while she jokes with well-known celebrities.

The 30 year-old co-hosts MTV”s Bugging Out which shows her pulling hilarious pranks on people. Traci Stumpf says if Zooey Deschanel and Chelsea Handler had a love child, it would be her. She’s not very well known on Irish shores yet, but she is definitely worth a watch!

Jayde Adams

Adams was nominated for the very prestigious The Best newcomer Award in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2016. The British comedian is known for her parodies of celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and Adele. Jayde Adams is a breakthrough act that first came into the spotlight back in 2014 after surprisingly winning the Funny Women Awards final in London.

Since then, she has been a growing comedic star. She has appeared as a stand-up comedian at music festivals such as Electric Picnic and Glastonbury. No doubt she is a comedian to watch out for as she grows in popularity throughout the UK and Ireland this year.

Al Porter

The Dublin native is certainly a comedian to watch out for. Porter dropped out of Trinity College to pursue a career in comedy. Amazingly, he is the youngest comedian ever to perform in Vicar Street and he recently announced that he will be joining Today FM as a lunchtime presenter. He previously co-hosted with Colm Hayes on 2FM and the 23 year-old won the Rising Star award at the IFTAs in 2016.

He has often been compared to comedian Graham Norton and is described as Ireland’s youngest and funniest comedian. Al Porter has appeared on the Late Late Show and even appeared at Electric Picnic. He has also performed on ‘Live At The Apollo’ and supported well-known comedian Michael McIntyre. This year, he has his stand-up comedy show ‘Al Porter At Large’, which starts in Vicar Street on the 17th of March and runs for 8 dates.

You should definitely follow these comic geniuses throughout the year ahead. These four are unquestionably worth keeping up with and will no doubt continue to grow even more in years to come.
