How to Eat Out in Style on a Student Budget in Dublin

So you started college and you’re STARVING. What to do? Fear not as you don’t have to survive off pizza slices and chips from the student union building all year.

With this guide, you will be inviting your friends for a stylish feed in no time. Here are 10 places in Dublin where you can enjoy your food without worrying about the cost!

Musashi – Capel Street

First on the list is Mushashi, not everybody likes Japanese food but I’m a big fan and I would definitely recommend you to try it too. Their prices range from €6 – €7 for 5 pieces of sushi and €12 for a main course. The best thing about this place however is that very often it will have deals on Groupon & you can score a three-course meal for €20 so keep an eye out! The atmosphere is also romantic and you can completely get lost chatting away under the fluorescent lights. Small tip is to call ahead to make an appointment, this will definitely impress those who attend your lunch date and will avoid any disappointments.

The Silver Café – Kimmage

This one is for all the coffee lovers out there! Don’t be fooled by the name of the place, the food there is delicious and cheap, also it’s BYOB “Bring your own bottle”. The menu consists of burgers, curries and pizzas all at a great price. It’s also vegan and vegetarian friendly, so there is food going around for everyone! The atmosphere is comfortable and has a home style feel to it. So invite all of your friends to this European style restaurant for an evening on the way home. You won’t be disappointed.

Cornucopia – Wicklow Street

Cornucopia is perfect for all those who don’t want to stray too far from their diets! Are you finding it difficult in a college that is surrounded by fast foods and snacks? Its ok, Cornucopia has your covered. This restaurant gives 10% off for students, which means only a fiver for your salad. This place is well suited for all the vegans and vegetarians too. So now you can eat out and be healthy. Magical huh?

Staple Foods – Grattan Street

College involves a lot of walking, lectures, more lectures and so on. Come five o’clock you are starving. If you are anything like me, all you want to do is stuff your face with food. I dream about soup, big plates of pasta and let’s not forget about dessert. Problem is, after my homemade dinner all I crave is more food, no surprise there.

But there really is no need to go out and order three takeaways. Get your best clobber on and head on down to Staple Foods. They have big hearty dinners which will definitely fill you up, including healthy options and vegetarian ones too. The best part is it will all cost you under ten euros so no need to worry. You can go to bed with your belly full. Student discounts available too!

Munchies – Baggot Street Lower

Munchies is a must for lunch with your gals, chat over coffee and sandwich for only €6.50. Best part is that you have a 10% discount and with a valid ID you can get a free lunch on your birthday. Don’t be down on your birthday in college, this place has your back!

The Mongolian BBQ – Temple Bar

This place will definitely impress your friends with flying colours! It’s known for its unique dining experience that it delivers, so for only €6.90 and you can get the lunch special for €5.90 from 12pm until 4:30pm. The way this restaurant works is you go around and fill your bowl with as many raw ingredients as you possibly want. Meat, vegetables, spices and sauces, then you give it to the cook who cooks the delicious meal right in front of you. Best part, they do student discounts, so start filling those bowls.

Tolteca – Suffolk Street

A Dublin spot that just has to be mentioned because there isn’t anything better than a burrito to fill you up after a three hour block of lectures! Tolteca is one of the closest places to Trinity but it also has outlets in Galway for all the NUIG students, Camden Street and Rathmines so you’ll never be at a loss of burritos! It has good honest food and a fast service so you’ll be enjoying your burrito with your friends in no time. It offers a €6.50 student deal which includes a full burrito and a drink. Another great thing is free refills! There is also salads for those who prefer a healthy option.

Little Jerusalem – Camden Street Lower

Little Jerusalem has a range of Lebanese and Palestinian food. It’s definitely for those who want a little bit of culture in their day-to-day lunches. Bring your friends along for an afternoon dinner and with only €3 for corkage, you can bring your own wine or BYOB! This is perfect for some pre drinks and food with the boys. Famous for their falafels, hummus and kebabs, you can try all three with the student discounts!

Captain Americas – Grafton Street

Known for their midweek cocktails for €3 and special offers, this place is brilliant for a casual dinner or lunch break with some friends. It also has starters to share, so instead of buying one small starter, you can now buy a big one for the price of one. Do you hate Sundays? Those days before you have to crawl out of bed on a Monday morning are miserable. So you walk around your house all day trying to distract yourself from it. No more! It is time to treat yourself on a Sunday, head down to 777 on Sunday and you can get meals and cocktails all for €7.77.  Best part, you get to sit in a stylish restaurant in Dublin and enjoy food and drink for €7.77! Did we mentioned that all of this happens on a Sunday!
