1. New Barn Farm in Ashbourne

Just outside of Ashbourne, New Barn Farm prides itself on its home-grown and locally sourced fruit and vegetables alongside a selection of artisan farm produce. You can enjoy all this and more in The Donkey Shed Restaurant which showcases the best of the local fare. There is also an open farm, so super handy if with young children to show them the animals. Perfect for kids and adults, you can pop in anytime for a homelike meal.

Another reason you might want to visit the Snailbox is that it has earned its place in the Guinness World Records for the most hats in a public place. 3. Room 8 in Navan

This cosy restaurant is a favourite for locals. Room 8 offers a wide range of options for everyone. Freshly prepared and locally sourced when possible and a perfect area to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Small tip is to call ahead to make a reservation as it can become packed on weekends. They never use pre-manufactured foods, sauces or desserts. Everything is homemade, even the ice cream. All beef, pork and poultry is 100% Irish and HAACP traceable to the farm of origin. All the food is locally sourced where possible and using Irish produce is a priority for this place. Also, ring up before hand to avoid disappointment as tables fill quickly. Stockhouse offers a relaxing environment to eat 100% Irish meat. The steaks are dry aged for 28 days and all beef is supplied by local butchers Coogan’s and are fully traceable from farm to fork. It has good quality sourced ingredients with a wide range of options including gluten free and vegetarian. The ingredients have been carefully sourced from local suppliers. Vanilla Pod has also been named one of the Top 100 Places to Eat in Ireland and was named Bushmills Best New Comer Outside of Dublin in 2003.
