Mayo VS Dublin All-Ireland Football Final 2017 Preview

By Dean Fitzgerald September 16, 2017 (No)
After 62 games, the inter-county football season finds itself at the finale. 33 teams began the season with mixed ambitions for the season. New York had a genuine belief of finally winning a championship game, Kerry began their campaign with confidence of ending Dublin’s grasp of dominance over the championship as they had done in the Allianz football league, and the Dubs and Mayo wanted to be back where they had been the year before. Only the latter of these three scenarios came true, with a repeat performance of last season’s epic showdown highly anticipated between the two teams seen as the best the country has to offer. Throw-in is at […]

10 Reasons Why Irish Football Fans are Still the Best in the World

By Dean Fitzgerald September 1, 2017 (No)
Irish fans of all sports are very highly regarded on the world stage. We’re seen as the life of the party at a Conor McGregor fight, the loudest singing crowd in any given stadium, and everyone wants to be seen with the Irish fans for one reason or another. From Chile to Japan, Irish sports fans are extremely popular (except maybe in North Korea, but that’s hardly our fault now!). At any given time, Irish football fans are known for boisterous, good-natured support of their country. With crucial upcoming World Cup qualifier games against Georgia and Serbia on the Road to Russia 2018, we’ve come up with 10 reasons why […]

2017 Leinster SHC Final Preview – Wexford v Galway

By Evan Coughlan July 1, 2017 (No)
Nobody who knows anything about hurling would have predicted that Wexford, who have flattered to deceive over the past couple of years, would reach this year’s Leinster Senior Hurling Championship final. However, thanks to the appointment of Davy Fitzgerald as manager, Wexford have reached their first Leinster final since 2008. Facing off against Davy Fitz and his team of yellow bellies are the men from West Leinster, Galway. Michéal Donoghue’s men have had a great 2017 season so far, and will come into this final as heavy favourites after their demolition job of Dublin and Offaly in the previous rounds of the Leinster SHC. But can Galway claim a second […]

Four Provincial Championship Finals – One Massive Preview

By Ryan Corry June 29, 2017 (No)
After last weekends semi-finals were decided, the wheels were in motion for all of the 2017 GAA Senior Football Championship provincial finals. It’s been a hectic few months for players, battling in and out of the AIB Club Championship and fighting through the Allianz Football League. But of all the matches that have been played, none share the significance of the games ahead. A win for each county will take the pride of the province and secure a place at the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-finals in just under a months time. Let’s have a look at these four massive finals and what the fans can look forward to over […]

Can Dublin Win a Seventh Consecutive Leinster Title?

By Evan Coughlan June 16, 2017 (No)
The easy and most logical answer to the question posed in the title of this article is, Yes, of course they can. Just look at the monster that Dublin football has become over the past few years, they very well could win the next five Leinster titles and nobody would be overly surprised. Dublin face off against the winners of the Offaly/Westmeath replay in the Leinster semi-final on Sunday June 25th, then a possible Leinster final against either Meath or Kildare on July 16th. So can the Dubs continue this run of dominance, which has seen them turn the Leinster championship into little more than a stroll over the past […]

Dublin’s Greatest Football Team… Heffo’s Army or Gavin’s Gang?

By Andy Leech March 31, 2017 (No)
Dublin were waltzing their way into the history books, yet there was a noticeable lull in the Croke Park atmosphere. Beating a young and timid Roscommon team by 35 points does not surprise nor excite The Hill anymore. Not only do they expect it, there is a cohort of Dublin fans growing up who don’t know any different. They forget the eons in the wilderness. The Royal neighbour collecting All-Irelands. The false dawns. The Croke Park annihilations. The sixteen barren years. But when Kevin McManamon picked up the ball on the 21 and ran straight at a tired Kerry defence in the 2011 All-Ireland final, it all changed. Two years […]

The 2017 AIB GAA Football Club Championship Final

By Dean Fitzgerald March 17, 2017 (No)
Friday 17th March, on the traditional day of St. Patrick, is the date for the AIB GAA football club championship final, as Slaughtneil of Derry take on Dr. Crokes from Kerry in Croke Park (TG4, throw-in 5pm). This is the day when a year’s worth of blood, sweat, tears, mud, more sweat, and what feels like 5,400 laps of pitches culminates in the final battle to decide which team is the best in the nation in 2016/17, all while everyone else plays the next season’s league games. But let’s not focus on that. It has truly been a rollercoaster ride this season in the latter stages of the championship. Favourites […]
