There are many ways to see Ireland, but travelling by car is by far the best way to explore the amazing beauty on offer. Chill Insurance have shared their favourite road trips in their latest series of eBooks and we felt inspired, so here’s our roundup of the top Irish road trips for 2019. Boyne Valley Scenic Loop Boyne Valley Loop is a 173 mile stretch that follows the Boyne River and covers 9,000 years of history – this is not just a scenic drive but an historic one too. James McClean: The Rise Of The Republic’s Footballing Hero

By Evan Coughlan October 16, 2017 (No)
Phew…. has everyone recovered from what happened on that marvellous evening in Wales? I’m sure there are a few people who haven’t even made it back from Cardiff yet! Well, yet again, we had one of those nights, where somehow, we got a win when we needed it most. After looking back on the goal for about the 673rd time, I can confirm that James McClean, if he wasn’t already, is now up there with the past greats of the Irish team, but what about James McClean, the man. McClean has become a household name due, in part, to his exploits on the field for the Republic as well as […]

The 2017 AIB GAA Football Club Championship Final

By Dean Fitzgerald March 17, 2017 (No)
Friday 17th March, on the traditional day of St. Patrick, is the date for the AIB GAA football club championship final, as Slaughtneil of Derry take on Dr. Crokes from Kerry in Croke Park (TG4, throw-in 5pm). This is the day when a year’s worth of blood, sweat, tears, mud, more sweat, and what feels like 5,400 laps of pitches culminates in the final battle to decide which team is the best in the nation in 2016/17, all while everyone else plays the next season’s league games. But let’s not focus on that. It has truly been a rollercoaster ride this season in the latter stages of the championship. Favourites […]

By Dean Fitzgerald February 27, 2017 (No)
After three weeks, the Allianz National Football Leagues have been living up to their expectations as the least predictable, most entertaining part of the GAA Football calendar. Every week there seems to be a surprise upset and teams are performing above expectations around the country. Even Dublin aren’t coasting through games like they usually do. It’s refreshing to see. Ulster teams are at the forefront of this discussion, as we gauge what chances each team has to win their respective division. Strength in Depth The Ulster championship is seen as the most competitive of the four provinces in championship football, so it’s only natural that we make close inspections to […]

By Dean Fitzgerald February 11, 2017 (No)
‘Here we all are now, all the lads’, as Fr.Todd Unctious would say. It’s time for the 2017 AIB Football All-Ireland Club Championships Semi-Finals and by god it feels like a long time since the provincials were played. ‘I thought the Dublin team already won it’ I hear you say?’ Well no they didn’t, that was the Leinster, again. By the time the first ball is thrown in on Saturday February 11th, it will be 2 months since any of these teams have played a championship game. Bit ridiculous really isn’t it? But that’s a story for another day. Each of these teams have been excellent, with Galway’s Corofin, Dublin’s […]
