Ireland vs Wales World Cup Qualifiers 2018 Preview

By Ryan Corry March 23, 2017 (No)
As it stands, Ireland are in a very healthy position in Group D, sitting top of the table, unbeaten in four games including a tough trip to Serbia. However, the worst is still yet to come, with Wales in the Aviva Stadium our next port of call on Friday, while being in the middle of the worst injury crisis we’ve seen in years. At this stage, the mind games between the two sides have been strictly corporate with the FAI offering an ‘insulting’ amount of tickets to Welsh supporters, who expected 10% of the allocation but were in fact offered a mere 6%. This might be a masterstroke and give the makeshift […]

How The Ireland Euro 2016 Heroes Have Done Since

By theSharpeUser October 21, 2016 (No)
Some cynics would look at Ireland’s EURO 2016 campaign and ask what was won or where is the trophy but it has to be said that it was a very successful campaign for the boys in green. Ireland is not a major footballing nation by any stretch of the imagination which is evident when you consider how big it is just to qualify for a tournament. Whelan has often been the go to man for criticism after defeats, with the media and fans questioning his talent and effectiveness in a vital position on the field. For a man often maligned he is picked often for the national side and has been playing in the Premier League […]

World Cup Qualifier – The Irish Team Kick Off

By theSharpeUser July 10, 2016 (No)
It seems like we are always willing to accept a day out. ‘Ah sure, we gave it a lash’ is an all too common attitude in Irish sport. The Euro 2016 journey wasn’t a bad one but it wasn’t a great one. So we beat the Italians on an amazing night to qualify for the last 16 but then got beaten by a superior French team. A French team that could have been avoided had we merely beaten the Swedes in the first game when we were the dominant force. Oh well, we’ll move on and next is the World Cup in 2018. Ireland line out against Serbia away from […]
