As most Irish people know, Deliveroo is a site whereby you can order any type of take-away and get it delivered to your house, but what people don’t know is that it was founded in the United Kingdom and actually operates across 200 cities.
Deliveroo basically makes its money by charging restaurants that are signed up a fee and the person who is ordering a booking fee.
You can order many different things as all types of cuisines and restaurants are listed on the app and website, but to save you some time on deciding what to order, I will be listing different types of food and places you should definitely try.
Just to note, the restaurants vary depending on where you’re ordering from and too – but for the purposes of today’s article, I’ll be working around Dublin.
Let’s start off with something some people are very wary of… Raw fish.
To be honest, I used to be like you, always unsure of sushi, but I have tried a few of the sushi dishes from Eatokyo and they are very flavoursome. Have some noodles, soy sauce and wasabi on the side and you’re good to go.
Eatokyo have many dishes available including udon noodles, a bento-box, tempura and many more, so if you’re feeling adventurous, give this a try.
I’m sure most of you have heard of this place and why wouldn’t you have? Boojum seems to have been a craze to hit Ireland.
Boojum have various locations across Ireland. They serve delicious burritos and really crunchy nachos.
It works the same way as the restaurant does, you pick whatever you want on your burrito, including salsa, guacamole, rice and some meat, if that’s what you want and get it delivered to wherever you are to enjoy.
Again, this is very popular with Irish people, especially the younger generation and it’s easy to see why, what would beat a cheeky Nandos?
Nandos is well-known for its chicken dishes that actually come from Portuguese heritage. They have a range of spices and flavours available, which you can now buy in some supermarkets.
Their chicken burgers are always super fresh and not over-whelming or too filing. Their chips are super crunchy and seasoned with some sort of spice and their corn on the cob will make any child eat their veggies.
“Meltdown serves melted cheese madness and artisan coffee. They take the wonderful Irish delicacy, that is the cheese toasty, to a whole new level with a range of drool-worthy flavours.”
This is such a simple idea for a restaurant, but very popular. My favourite one to order is the Mac Mama which is Macaroni, cheese, bacon, scallions and Monterey Jack cheese.
Meltdown have various options including a vegan one, so if you’re looking for a light snack, check these guys out!
Carluccio’s serve authentic and affordable Italian classics like fresh fish, primo pastas and crisp, healthy salads!
They have 77 restaurants across the UK and Ireland, and 14 in Turkey and the Middle East.
My favourite dish and something to definitely try from this Italian is Lasagne, because who doesn’t love a good lasagne. It’s really delicious and the pasta sheet on the top is always just the right amount of crispy.
I have also tried the Seafood Linguine, which has every type of seafood you could hope for, topped off with a crab and chilli sauce. I would also highly recommend trying this if you’re a fan of seafood or if you’re feeling adventurous.
Bombay Pantry is a restaurant that has locations all over Dublin. They produce top quality Indian food to go.
They use, “The freshest locally sourced ingredients where possible, highly experienced native chefs and state of the art kitchens, our promise is 100% natural fresh food cooked to order.”
And I can safely say their dishes are divine. My favourite dishes to try on Deliveroo are the Chicken Tikka Masala, which has so many rich flavours and isn’t too spicy! I also really enjoy the Vegetable Biryani, which has vegetables combined with fragrant rice and biryani spices.
Lastly, we have a classic pizza place. Pizza is probably one of the most popular take-away’s in Ireland. I’m sure everyone has seen Milano restaurants around the place, but I only recently found out they are listed on Deliveroo.
I highly recommend any pizzas on their menu, whether it’s gluten free or one of the lighter options, they are all SO good!
When it comes to pizza, I am very plain, so I love the traditional Margherita, but I also enjoy the American, which is a pizza with pepperoni. I have also tried the starters and the desserts, and every dish is served with the same quality!
So, there we have it – 7 dishes/places you need to try on Deliveroo!
I’m interested in writing and reading as well as keeping up with entertainment news as a personal interest. Love to travel and meet new people!
