Whether you are looking for something to warm up in preparation for all of the biggest festivals of the summer or looking for that one special act that will make someone special become your Valentine this guide will help you find what you are looking for. Covering a wide range of genres and places here is the latest gig guide up for grabs.

This young rapper can be compared as the new up and coming Eminem with his exceptional rapping skills. Known as Mark Richard Jr. Giving up his work as a graphic designer, Mark ventured into the world of rapping and has been producing songs since 2011. So far, Witt has released four albums starting with Headphone Hero followed by Kindest Regards then with Dreaming with Our Eyes Open and finally going ahead to release his latest album I Could Not Plan This in September 2017. Working hard for his singing career, Witt is known for his high energy performance and honest words when rapping.

Originating from Connecticut in the United States, Witt has a large following around the world. This new talent is perfect for something to jumpstart February to and you can join #teamwitt by attending his gig on Sunday the 10th of February in the Academy. This pop group will be performing on Valentines day all the way from Australia with its own take on the pop genre. The band consists of the vocalist Tim Nelson, Zoe Davis which plays the keyboard and guitar, Sam Netterfield who also plays the keyboard and vocalises and lastly drummer Dan Puusaari. The band has released three albums since starting out in 2010. Their first album was released in 2016 called This is Our Vice. Secondly, in 2017 the album Bats and in 2019 they released Cub Sport. With their new album only released on the 18th of January this will be the best opportunity to be some of the first people to hear it especially on Valentines Day with your loved one.

The album has already peaked to number 12 on the ARIA Charts. Some other well-known songs created by Cub Sport for example is the video Hawaiian Party to which the video was written and directed by the Dolan twins gaining millions of views. This English Indie/ Rock band could be another magical experience to share with your Valentine or a group of friends. The band’s members include singer/guitarist Tom Dougall, guitarist Dominic O’Dair , bassist Maxim Barron, drummer Charlie Salvidge and keyboard player Max Oscarnold.  Picked as one of the NME’S “100 New Bands You Have to Hear” in 2012.

They have toured with the Vaccines and worked on a collaboration with Natasha Khan entitled Sexwitch. Their sound is described as a mixture of psychedelic rock, krautrock, shoegaze and post punk. So, take part in the headbanging this February the 14th at The Workman’s club. More about this band can be found below.

Calling themselves the ‘Misfits of the Irish Society’ this band have been formed in Dublin with the intention of encouraging freedom and individuality. They believe in expression through creativity and range within a few genres like hip hop, rap, soul, indie, alternative and electronic. The Blackfish collective did not believe that they were growing up in a society that held their vision, so they decided to make their own. The members of this band do not see any lines of limitation and instead create alter egos that bring to life any experimental sounds that their heart desires with one thing in common, excellence.

The characters within this band are called DemiGosh, Prettyboy Francis, The Vice, Mo-Tabs Caleb and Prncss. This world they have created consists of heroes and villains and they do not want to be put in a box but instead let their creativity run free. Brought together due to being called the ‘weird kids’ in Dublin. They range from different African countries like Nigeria and Zimbabwe. Join this band with no limits and get an eye-opening experience this February the 15th at The Sound House Dublin.

This Indie Rock band come from Minnesota in America. Forming the band is Jake Luppen the vocalist/guitarist, Zach Sutton on Bass, Nathan Stocker also as a guitarist and vocalist and Whistler Isaiah Allen on drums and vocals. In 2017 they released their full-length album Landmark. Recently they have released their album Bambi on September 28th 2018.

Another remarkable thing that Hippo Campus recently done was that they teamed up with the Women’s foundation of Minnesota to donate profits from their merchandise to the foundation as part of the Me Too Movement. So, don’t miss out on their electrifying sounds this February 19th at The Academy. Hurry as tickets are selling fast.

Kormac

Kormac simply started out as a hip-hop scratch Dj and MPC beat-maker. However, Kormac has matured into an artist and has brought a completely creative and unique approach to twisting samples of recordings and acoustic instruments. His live shows are daring and sometimes he performs with an ensemble at this side. He has even played at festivals as big as Electric picnic. Listening to him play keys, guitar, drums and turn tables can be a mesmerizing experience especially with his 11-piece ensemble.

Playing at The Button Factory Kormac is bringing special guests which include Loah, Jack O’Rourke, Claire Young and members of the Big Band. He will also perform a brand-new solo AV Show. These custom-made visuals will be directed at the dance floor and show on multiple screens so if you’re looking for the night of a lifetime make sure to check out this show. The new album by Danny G & the Major 7ths is called ‘Love Joints‘ (it’s also on Spotify and a bunch of places). It’s an introspective break-up album essentially, telling the story of a doomed relationship with all of the themes and emotions that entails. Optimism, Love, Jealousy, Mistrust, Anger, Loneliness and acceptance. Joint is a play on words, meaning our limbs (what connects us) and also the US hip hip slang for song is ‘joint’.
