We recently had the pleasure to stay at The Alex for 1 night and boy was I impressed…
The Alex is part of the O’Callaghan Collection, which includes other hotels such as, The Davenport, The Green and The Mont. They are situated all around the city centre and all hotels have been praised for the stylish décor, friendly staff and the best service. In particular, The Alex is a boutique hotel and is located on Fenian Street in Dublin. The Alex is inviting, warm and comfortable. It suits leisure travellers as well as the business one.
The rooms at The Alex have recently been refurbished, with impeccable taste. Each room has its own style, with different touches to add character. We stayed in the standard double-bed room and let me tell you, the room was beautifully laid out and the bed was beyond comfortable. It had a little table with chairs for you to sit and eat and it had your teas and coffee in the room.
The bathroom was spacious and very clean, it had the little complimentary shampoo, conditioner, soap and toothpaste. Each room has a different feel to it and has lovely warm carpets and fluffy blankets at the end of the bed for the more colder nights.
Overall, the room was warm and comfortable without being ‘in your face.’ It was clean and stylish – you could see that it was designed the sleekness in mind as well as making it as ‘homely’ as a hotel room can be.
All of the bedrooms feature extra comfy super king size beds, smart TVs with Chromecast connectivity and WiFi.
The Alex also has a fully equipped 24-hour gym for guests to access and it also has a conveniently located work-space where business guests can sit down and get some work done.
The hotel also has a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and evening tapas and a bar with a wide selection of, beers, cocktails and spirits.
There are also meeting rooms and events spaces available for private hire. It can accommodate up to 400 delegates. The spaces have WiFi and AV equipment available. The hotel can provide food and drinks necessary for any meeting/event.
The service at the hotel is very friendly and efficient. Everyone there is willing to help and always has a friendly smile for you. The hotel offers 24-hour room service and there is always someone around to help. The staff are dressed impeccably and always look neat. They work in a faced-paced environment, but they are always ready to help.
While I was staying at The Alex, I managed to get a tour of the whole hotel and thought it would be nice to mention some of the other rooms available and more of what I saw.
The hotel has 5 suites available where there is a room, a bathroom and a living area. This was is beautifully decorated and would ideally suit a business traveller who may be travelling with family. It is cosy and warm and offers beverages, including a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
You will also have complimentary bathrobes and slippers, a Nespresso coffee machine, fast WiFi and a smart TV.
One of the suites called The Alex suite which has all the above features and allows access to the executive lounge. Access to the Executive Lounge is included with the Executive King Room, Junior Suite and One Bedroom Suite.
At the Executive Lounge, you can sit down and relax with a range of drinks and snacks available. The room is calm and inviting and provides some privacy to those who require it.
The work-space is located in the lobby of the hotel and has access to WiFi, with USB ports available and coffee on-hand.
As mentioned before the hotel has a restaurant for all meals. I had lunch at the hotel and had a lovely sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything was fresh and delivered with speed and efficiency.
The Alex, ‘specialise in tasty food using the best in local and seasonal ingredients; with a carefully crafted cocktail from our extensive menu.’ The restaurant is very warm and inviting. The lighting sets the mood and allows this restaurant to go from day to night seamlessly. They are beautiful pictures hanging on the wall, which compliment the pinky colour of the room. Overall, the restaurant is open and friendly. The staff are always willing to help, and the delivery service was superb.
The hotel does have deals available on the website, but the prices will always depend on the time of year you are staying there. Just to recap, I highly recommend The Alex and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was comfortable and the staff and service were beyond satisfactory.
I’m interested in writing and reading as well as keeping up with entertainment news as a personal interest. Love to travel and meet new people!
